Place for all the other things

Random loveliness to enjoy. Things to be passionate about and things to put smiles on faces. But above all reminders of what its like to be here now.

someone on facebook posted this intending it to be negative but instead it’s INCREDIBLE. go girl scouts

#NOT ONLY ARE WE MORALLY RIGHT BUT ALSO WE HAVE DELICIOUS COOKIES SUCK IT ASSHOLES

God I hope this is all true because if so EXTRA THIN MINTS FOR ME THIS YEAR.

As a former Girl Scout and volunteer let me tell you what your cookies really support: YOUR COMMUNITY
Despite a national face each troop must support them selves. Lets face it s’mores and GORP supplies are not cheap. Part of the funds from cookies goes directly to the troop.
The other part goes to the local girl scout camps, lets face it we need those open spaces to play in.
What a troop does depends alot on the leaders, be they women or man. (Note to the fellows: to be a GS leader you have to have another leader who is female.)
The Journey books are not required for earning badges, they are a recommended tool. You could have a troop that doesn’t do badges.
ITS ABOUT THE “Promise” and the “Law”. It must fit with in the ideals of making the world a better place and helping people out- and guess what we are all people, weather we are: Marxist, Jewish, Muslim, American, Poor, Conservative, Lesbians, Chinese  Young, Trans-gender,Old, Christian, Buddhist   A-sexual, Egyptian, Rich, Punk rock, Tree-hugging, free thinking or just plain odd.

The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:To serve God* and my country,To help people at all times,And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to behonest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, andresponsible for what I say and do,and torespect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, andbe a sister to every Girl Scout.

I’ll be it the “Law” has been refreshed a bit over the years. But the merit/aim is the same. The promise is always the same. (at least as far as I know) Oh and we are always prepared ;)

The Girl Scout Law (as I remember late 80’s- early 00s)
I will do my best to behonest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strongand responsible for what I say and do,(I’ll remember-?) torespect myself and others (and the world around me<- added late 90s i think)To be a friend and sister to every Girl Scout and animal.

The Girl Scout Law (old Ver- can’t read the date and don’t wanna kill the framing)
A  girl scout’s honer is to be trusted.
A  girl scout is loyal.
A  girl scout’s duty is to be useful and to help others.
A  girl scout is a friend and sister to every other girl scout
A  girl scout  is courtious
A  girl scout is a friend to animals
A  girl scout  obeys orders
A  girl scout is cheerful
A  girl scout is thrifty
A  girl scout is clean is thought, word, and deed.
* The word “God” can be interpreted in a number of ways, depending on one’s spiritual beliefs. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is okay to replace the word “God” with whatever word your spiritual beliefs dictate.
